The Little Theatre of the Rockies continues its summer repertory season with the exciting regional premiere of the new musical, Dogfight, opening Thursday, July 2 in the Norton Theatre.
It’s November 21, 1963. On the eve of their deployment to a small but growing conflict in Southeast Asia, three young Marines set out for one final boys’ night of debauchery, partying and maybe a little trouble. But when Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress, she rewrites the rules of the game.
Based on the 1991 Warner Brothers film, and studded with impressive songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (James and the Giant Peach, Edges, and A Christmas Story), Dogfight offers audiences the winning combination of a great musical score, an unexpected love affair and a genuine soul. This romantic and heartbreaking theatrical journey stays with you long after the performance.
The show is directed by Matthew Herrick and the cast includes guest artist and former UNC theatre faculty member Tracy Salter (Mama), Shauni Ruetz (Rose Fenny), Marco Robinson (Eddie Birdlace), Conor Sheehan (Boland), Christian Robinson (Bernstein), Allie Fuller (Marcy), Connor McRaith (Gibbs), Corbin George (Stevens), Ryan Zeidler (Fector), Faith Ford (Ruth Two and other roles), Jordan Roberts (Lounge Singer and other roles), and Rose Van Dyne (Peggy and other roles).
Dogfight plays at UNC’s Norton Theatre, in Gray Hall on the UNC campus. Evening performances are July 2 (sold out), 3 (sold out), 4, 11, 17, 22 and 23. Matinee performances are July 5 and 12 at 2:00pm. For tickets and information call the box office at 970-351-2200, or buy tickets online.
